Working in-depth with relationship issues, sexuality and integration of bodymindspirit.
The way I work is rooted in who I am. my strengths, vulnerabilities, courage, capacity to love, play, be soft, strong, tender and passionate are part of what I bring to my work. I am respectful of how the body has a language which often is expressed in tensions, bodily symptoms and sensations. When listened to, the body can unravel stories of loss, withheld pain, frozen heart, deadened sexuality and disconnection.
The process of the therapeutic relationship is central to my work.
An important part of this is staying present in the moment. This may take the form of following the subtle messages of aliveness in the space between you and I. Aliveness can be present in unexpected ways, in moments where we are uncomfortable, unsure or cut off. These are all opportunities to explore layers beneath these experiences and an understanding of patterns in which we relate to others and our inner world.
The pain that we have gathered through are current adult relationships will hold seeds to what is needed to reclaim our capacity to love deeply, and trust oneself. Exploring past childhood wounds and our stories can be inter weaved into the process.
Therapy that just explores the past or our stories is useful and has its place and also limited. We can go over and over past pain for years and still feel stuck in patterns and deadness.
Counselling/Pyschotherapy can itself, become a way to avoid being present and in contact with relationships. Fear of intimacy, closeness can be hidden in our stories. As we search for the answer in the past we can miss what the present can provide, an opening to deeper contact with ourselves and others.
I also use visualisation, meditation techniques and drawings when appropriate to explore self-parenting of the inner child. This work can become deeply empowering and transformational.
